About Roger Taylor

Roger Taylor (born Roger Meddows-Taylor on July 26, 1949 in Dersingham, Norfolk, later moved to Kings Lynn) is an percussionist best known as the drummer and backing, sometimes lead, vocalist of the rock band Queen. As a drummer he is known for his "big" unique sound and is considered one of the most influential rock drummers of the 1970's & 1980's. As a songwriter he contributed songs to the band's albums from the very beginning, composing at least one track on every album, and (in the early days) usually sang lead vocals on his own compositions. He also wrote five of the band's hits, "Radio Ga Ga", "A Kind of Magicc", "The Invisible Man", "Breakthru" and "These Are the Days of Our Lives". Roger is my favourite member of the band, and I have been heavily influenced by him since i started listening to Queen in November 2007. I havent been a Queen fan very long, but as soon as I listened to 'Don't Stop Me Now' in 2005, i wanted more. As I started to enjoy Queen's music more and more, I started reasearching on the band members. I found out that Roger was the drummer of the band, and about 3 weeks later, I saw an old Queen concert on TV. I realised that Roger was a very good drummer and started drum lessons myself. Roger Taylor is my inspiration, and I would like to say a big 'thank you' to him for that
